Perfected Travel: The Coachmen Pursuit

pursuit2In pursuit of perfecting the motorhome Coachmen has designed the gorgeous Coachmen Pursuit class A gas motorhome. This motorhome was created to provide RVers with everything they’ve been asking for for years: plenty of counter space, ample storage, and tastefully designed interiors that feel more like home than ever before. The Coachmen Pursuit is a motorhome that will exceed your expectations and make you feel at home wherever you are.

The Pursuit includes several amenities that you’d expect to find in more expensive class A motorhomes. This spacious coach comes with a practical mud room that allows you to clean up and prevent the tracking of dirt and mud from your outdoor adventures into your living area. Long lasting and easy to clean Congoleum linoleum can be found throughout the coach. Hardwood cabinets add the appeal of a residential home and character to the interior. A pet feeding center is just one of the many touches that Coachmen Pursuit has included to make life for RVers easier and more convenient and prove that this RV was designed for those who enjoy living!

pursuit

The kitchen is equipped to include everything needed to prepare your favorite meals. A flush mount, double door refrigerator gives plenty of space for your food, while a double bowl kitchen sink makes clean up and food prep simple. The single lever high kitchen faucet with a sprayer makes cleaning pots, pans, and large dishes easier and is a wonderful addition to the 3-burner range and microwave oven.

The Pursuit comes in several floorplans, with each one designed to meet a different lifestyle. The Coachmen Pursuit 29SBP is 32′ long and sleeps 5 people. The rear of this floorplan includes a bedroom with a queen sized bed. The hallway leading to the bedroom features a bathroom and shower on one side and a sink with plenty of counter space on the other side. Behind the cockpit is a dinette and sofa. Near the dinette is the kitchen, whose sink is located kitty corner on a artfully curved counter. This floorplan is perfect for RVers who travel as a couple and might occasionally bring along the grandchildren or friends.

For those who prefer a little more space, the Coachmen Pursuit 31BDP sleeps 6 people and includes a rear queen sized bed in addition to a bathroom. The sink, located outside of the bathroom, does not have as much counter space as the 29SBP. This floorplan features a U-shaped dinette located next to the a sofa with overhead storage. Situated across from the seating is a large kitchen, which can be found to the left as soon as you enter the RV.

Another great floorplan offered by Pursuit is the 33BHP. This floorplan sleeps 6 like the 31BDP and is laid out similarly, however, in lieu of the area where the sink is there are bunks to accommodate more guests. The dinette and sofa are also flip flopped in their positioning.

Coachmen Pursuit offers more luxury standard features and creature comforts than most other class A gas motorhomes on the market. If you’re interested in learning more about the Pursuit check out our Pursuit page, where you’ll be able to view details, floorplan information, and much more. The Biltmore is a grand 8,000 acre estate tucked in the Blue Mountains of North Carolina. Owned by the Vanderbilt family, construction on the Biltmore began in 1889. This grand home was the largest undertaking of residential construction in history. It was constructed over a period of 6 years and includes 250 rooms including 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, and 65 fireplaces. The home was initially a private residence, however, it was opened to the public in 1930 during the Depression in hopes that it would encourage North Carolina tourism. During World War II the house was used to store precious art that could originally be found in the National Gallery of Art.

If you’re planning a visit to this palatial estate the first thing to consider is which tour will work best for you. The Biltmore offers guided audio tours for $10 per person (in addition to an entrance fee). These tours allow you to feel as if you’re being guided through the home by curators, however, have the privacy of touring on your own. Through the audio you’ll learn all about the history of the home and the lives of those who lived there. Children will love the children’s guided audio tour, which is narrated by Cedric, the family’s Saint Bernard.

For those who are more intrigued by the elaborate parties that were held at the estate, what the family did for fun, and who had the privilege of visiting them you’ll love the 90-minute guided tours that are available with advanced registration. Architecture buffs will enjoy the Architect’s Tour, which will answer all your questions about this home that was modeled after a French Renaissance chateau. The video below does a nice job of detailing everything the Biltmore has to offer.

biltmore

In addition to the exquisite interior, the exterior of the Biltmore has provided a backdrop for everything from high end weddings to afternoon tea parties to simple family get togethers. The grounds are meticulously maintained and include lush gardens, perfectly trimmed trees, and so much more. Many tourists swear that touring the gardens provides even more satisfaction than seeing the interior.

Originally designed by noted landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead you’ll see everything from an Italian Garden to the breathtaking trees in America’s first managed forest. Pathways, gardens, small waterfalls, and other tiny hidden treasures can be found throughout. The unique Wall Garden features two lengthy arbors draped in vines along with flower beds that bloom with daffodils, hyacinths, tulips, lush perennials, and chrysanthemums.

Whether you love the great outdoors or enjoy viewing how “the other half” lives, the Biltmore truly offers something for everyone.

The Biltmore’s website has extensive information on operating hours, fees, and any questions you might have. Check it out to start planning your trip today.

RV Care: Keep Mice Out of Your RV With LED Lights

By Blue Stahli Luân (LED lights Uploaded by russavia) [CC-BY-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

By Blue Stahli Luân (LED lights Uploaded by russavia) [CC-BY-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

We all know mice are nocturnal. They sneak out at night, when no one is around, and scurry about in search of food, all the while causing destruction and spreading disease along the way. Mice cost millions of dollars in damage to homes, cars, and RVs every year. Don’t let their cute, furry looks fool you!

Numerous remedies exist to keep mice out of your RV. From blocking holes with steel wool to simply keeping any food sources away the options available are endless. While these methods are certainly helpful to protect certain parts of your RV, they aren’t always practical or effective for every part of the RV. You might be able to plug a hole on the outside of your RV with steel wool, but you certainly can’t plug your engine with it, and oftentimes mice enter through the engine.

Recently RVers have started talking about how they’ve successfully kept mice out of the RV using LED lights. It might seem too good to be true, but it actually makes a lot of sense. After all, mice are less likely to come around during the day (i.e. when they see light). This solution, in fact, is actually a great way to keep other pests like squirrels out as well. This idea was inspired by Me and My Dog…And My RV. Check out their website for detailed photos.

Setting up the LED light display is pretty simple. It requires:

  • Outdoor safe LED lights
  • Zip ties
  • A minimum of 10 feet of electrical wire
  • DC plug
  • Soldering gun

Pull the electrical wiring through the engine compartment so it can feed to the DC outlet or cigarette lighter. Connect, preferably through soldering, the end of the LED lights to the electrical wire. String the LED lights through the engine area, making sure to zip tie them so they do not touch any hot or moving parts, although this will only be running through the night. Connect the power source.

To learn additional methods to keeping mice out of your RV check out the video below.
